Background:

Giant cell-rich osteosarcoma (GCRO) is an exceptionally rare variant of conventional primary osteosarcoma.
GCRO accounts for approximately 1%-3% of all osteosarcomas.
Its occurrence in the maxillofacial region is exceedingly uncommon, presenting diagnostic difficulties.

Observation:

A rare case of GCRO involving the mandible is presented.
The patient was a 52-year-old male.
The lesion exhibited unusual histopathological features.

Findings:

The study focuses on the diagnostic challenges posed by the rarity and distinct histopathology of GCRO.
This case highlights the importance of considering rare variants in the differential diagnosis of jawbone tumors.

Implications:

Accurate diagnosis of GCRO is crucial for appropriate treatment planning.
Increased awareness of GCRO in the maxillofacial region may improve patient outcomes.
Further research into GCRO could elucidate its specific biological behavior and therapeutic strategies.
