  • GTB in unmarried females may present as menstrual irregularities or adnexal masses with ascites.
  • In reproductive-aged women, GTB can manifest as infertility or tubo-ovarian masses, mimicking ovarian cancer.
  • Postmenopausal GTB can present with bleeding or pyometra, raising suspicion for endometrial carcinoma.

Findings:

  • Two cases are presented where genital tuberculosis was initially suspected as ovarian malignancy.
  • The first case was ruled out for malignancy, while the second revealed a co-existence of ovarian malignancy and tuberculosis.
  • Histopathology is crucial for accurate diagnosis, differentiating GTB from gynecological cancers.

Implications:

  • Increased awareness and diagnostic vigilance for GTB are necessary, especially when symptoms overlap with gynecological cancers.
  • Timely and accurate diagnosis of GTB can prevent unnecessary surgeries and ensure appropriate treatment.
  • Further research into the diagnostic challenges and management strategies for GTB is warranted.
