Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition marked by persistent deficits in social communication and interaction alongside restrictive and repetitive behaviors or interests. ASD is sometimes accompanied by intellectual impairment.

Early diagnosis and intensive behavioral services are crucial for managing ASD-related challenges.
Latinx families experience health disparities, leading to later ASD diagnosis and reduced treatment access compared to white children.

To review existing literature on autism spectrum disorder in Latinx children.
To identify opportunities for social workers to mitigate ASD diagnosis and treatment disparities.
To inform social work practice with innovative frameworks and theories.
