Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the clinical efficacy of a modified EDCR technique using a middle uncinate process approach.
  • To assess the modified EDCR for treating chronic dacryocystitis and nasolacrimal duct obstruction.

  • Sixty-nine patients (71 eyes) with chronic dacryocystitis/nasolacrimal duct obstruction underwent modified EDCR.
  • Modifications included surgical approach, lacrimal sac anterior wall incision, and adherent mucosa treatment.

  • High anatomical success rate of 93.0% (66/71) and symptomatic success rate of 97.2% (69/71).
