The evaluation stage signals the end of the nursing process. The nurse gathers evaluative data to assess whether or not the patient has attained the expected results. Whereas the nurse collects data in the nursing assessment to identify the patient's health concerns, the evaluation stage data determines if the indicated health issues are resolved. Evaluative data collection includes two sections: the data acquired to evaluate patient outcomes and the time criteria for data collection.

Background:

WHO recommends responsive caregiving and early learning (RCEL) for early child development (ECD).
Implementation in low and middle-income countries (LMICs) needs evidence on human resources and curricula.
Data from the Grand Challenges Canada Saving Brains ECD portfolio was used.

Purpose of the Study:

To describe human resources and curricula content for RCEL projects in diverse LMICs.
To identify key factors for successful RCEL implementation.

Main Methods:

Mixed methods evaluation of 32 RCEL projects across 17 LMICs.
Quantitative data from standardized reporting tools.
Qualitative data from ECD experts and stakeholders analyzed via thematic content analysis.

Main Results:

Human resource themes: worker characteristics, incentives, retention, training, supervision.
Curricula themes: adaptation, fidelity, duration, dosage.
Project heterogeneity due to lack of standard ECD package; integration challenges exist.

Conclusions:

Identified themes for policymakers on RCEL implementation in LMICs.
Need for larger studies with impact, process, and costing evaluations for national/regional scale-up.
Supportive training, supervision, incentives, retention, dosage, and delivery are crucial.
