Teeth

The formation of teeth, also known as odontogenesis, is a complex process that begins in utero, around the sixth week of embryonic development. There are three stages to this process: the bud stage, the cap stage, and the bell stage.

Background:

Clear aligner therapy is increasingly popular for orthodontic correction, often sought for aesthetic improvement.
Patients seeking clear aligners frequently desire enhanced dental aesthetics, similar to motivations for teeth bleaching.

Observation:

A case report details concurrent teeth bleaching and clear aligner (Invisalign®) treatment.
A potential concern is incomplete bleaching under composite attachments used for aligner retention.

Findings:

The small molecular size of bleaching agents allows them to permeate tooth structure effectively.
Areas beneath composite attachments are bleached due to the permeating nature of bleaching agents.

Implications:

Simultaneous bleaching and clear aligner treatment can be efficiently performed.
Practitioners can offer combined aesthetic and orthodontic treatment concurrently, improving patient efficiency.
