[Exercise therapy in peripheral arterial occlusive disease in advanced age--a sensible measure?]
1Klinik für Angiologie und Geriatrie, Med. Universität zu Lübeck.
Abstract:
The ability of developing collateral vessels in obliterative arteriosclerosis decreases with age. A so-called interval-walking exercise, i.e., repeated walking with interposed test periods, will be effective as long as performed regularly. Cardiopulmonary or joint diseases may diminish the efficiency of this therapy.
