1Melinda L. Jenkins, PhD, FNP, is Associate Professor and Director of the Nursing Informatics Specialty at the School of Nursing, Rutgers University, where she focuses on standardized terminology for electronic documentation and evaluation of coordinated care and health outcomes. Along with many years of teaching, she has contributed to informatics research and implementation through the National Institutes of Health and the New York City Department of Health Primary Care Information Project. Dr. Jenkins has provided primary health care in several federally qualified health centers. She has three degrees in Nursing: a BSN and an MS from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.
