This study introduces NPClA, a novel dual-site fluorescent probe for detecting sulfur dioxide (SO2) and hypochlorous acid (HOCl). It enables effective imaging of mitochondrial stress by overcoming probe competition issues.
Area of Science:
- Chemical Biology
- Biomedical Imaging
- Analytical Chemistry
Background:
- Dual-recognition probes often face challenges due to competing reaction sites.
- Developing selective and sensitive probes is crucial for biological and medical research.
Purpose of the Study:
- To develop a novel two-photon fluorescent probe, NPClA, capable of dual-site recognition for SO2 and HOCl.
- To apply NPClA for imaging mitochondrial stress, addressing limitations of single-site probes.
Main Methods:
- Synthesis and characterization of the NPClA probe.
- Evaluation of the probe's response to SO2 and HOCl.
- Application of NPClA in live-cell imaging of mitochondrial stress.
Main Results:
- NPClA demonstrated a dual-site response mechanism for SO2 and HOCl detection.
- The probe exhibited high sensitivity and selectivity.
- Successful imaging of mitochondrial stress in biological samples was achieved using NPClA.
Conclusions:
- NPClA offers a promising solution for simultaneous detection of SO2 and HOCl.
- The probe's application in mitochondrial stress imaging highlights its potential in biomedical diagnostics.
