Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate and quantify memory function in individuals diagnosed with drug-resistant epilepsy.
  • To compare memory performance between patients with DRE and healthy controls.
  • To explore factors influencing memory impairment in DRE patients.

  • Fifty patients diagnosed with DRE (based on 2005 ILAE criteria and 2010 DRE definition) underwent neuropsychological testing.
  • The Wechsler Memory Scale was employed to assess seven distinct memory domains.
  • Memory scores were compared to those of 50 epilepsy-free control subjects.

Main Results:

  • Patients with DRE demonstrated statistically significant deficits in five out of seven assessed memory domains compared to controls.

  • The duration of epilepsy did not show a significant impact on overall memory performance.
