A single nucleotide polymorphism or SNP is a single nucleotide variation at a specific genomic position in a large population. The first Dutch patient with COVID-19, a 56-year-old man, was identified following travel to Northern Italy. His family members also tested positive, highlighting the need for rapid identification and containment of SARS-CoV-2 in the Netherlands.
