Combining amniotic fluid mesenchymal stem cell derived conditioned media (AF-MSC-CM) with skin needling significantly enhances facial rejuvenation compared to needling alone. This novel approach offers improved management and delay of skin aging signs.
Area of Science:
- Regenerative Medicine
- Dermatology
- Aesthetics
Background:
- Stem cell-derived growth factors offer novel facial rejuvenation treatments.
- Skin needling is a popular method for addressing skin aging.
- Combining these modalities may enhance therapeutic efficacy for skin aging.
Purpose of the Study:
- To compare the efficacy of amniotic fluid mesenchymal stem cell derived conditioned media (AF-MSC-CM) plus skin needling against skin needling alone for facial aging.
- To evaluate the combined treatment's impact on managing and delaying facial aging signs.
Main Methods:
- Ten volunteers with facial aging underwent five skin needling sessions bi-weekly.
- AF-MSC-CM was topically applied to the right side post-needling; the left side received needling only.
- Clinical, histological, and morphometrical assessments were performed one month after the final session.
Main Results:
- The combination of AF-MSC-CM and dermaroller (DR) showed a statistically significant improvement in aged skin compared to DR alone (P < .001).
- Dermal structure remodeling was predominantly observed on the side treated with the combined therapy.
- Histometry confirmed a significant increase in epidermal thickness on both treated sides.
Conclusions:
- AF-MSC-CM combined with skin needling is more effective for managing facial aging than skin needling alone.
- This combination therapy presents a promising strategy for advanced skin rejuvenation and anti-aging treatments.
