Summary

Interview-based Schizophrenia Cognition Rating Scale (SCoRS) effectively correlates with performance-based Measurement and Treatment Research to improve Cognition in Schizophrenia Consensus Cognitive Battery (MCCB) measures. This suggests SCoRS is a valuable tool for assessing cognitive function in schizophrenia patients.

Background:

Schizophrenia significantly impacts cognitive function.
Accurate cognitive assessment is crucial for treatment.
The Measurement and Treatment Research to improve Cognition in Schizophrenia Consensus Cognitive Battery (MCCB) is a standard performance-based tool.
The Schizophrenia Cognition Rating Scale (SCoRS) is an interview-based alternative.

Purpose of the Study:

To analyze the correlation between performance-based (MCCB) and interview-based (SCoRS) cognitive measures in schizophrenia patients.
To determine the utility of SCoRS as a complementary or alternative cognitive assessment tool.

Main Methods:

Recruited 56 clinically stable schizophrenia patients.
Administered both MCCB and SCoRS measures at baseline, 2 weeks, and 3 months.
Computed Spearman correlations between SCoRS items and MCCB scores.

Main Results:

A strong negative correlation was found between MCCB overall T score and SCoRS global score (r=-0.52).
SCoRS total score correlated significantly with MCCB Speed of Processing (r=-0.48).
SCoRS global score demonstrated statistically significant correlations with all seven MCCB domains.

Conclusions:

Significant correlations exist between MCCB domains and SCoRS items.
Interview-based SCoRS is a reliable measure, highly correlated with performance-based MCCB.
SCoRS is a practical and useful tool for cognitive function evaluation in clinical schizophrenia settings.
