Self-Report Tests of Personality01:22

Self-Report Tests of Personality

648
Self-report inventories are objective personality assessments that use multiple-choice items or numbered scales, typically ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). They are often called Likert scales after Rensis Likert. These inventories are widely used due to their ease of administration and cost-effectiveness. One of the most prominent examples is the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), initially developed in the 1940s to assess abnormal personality traits.

Desensitization and Tachyphylaxis01:20

Desensitization and Tachyphylaxis

2.8K
Tachyphylaxis is described as a rapid decrease in response to a drug after repeated or continuous administration of the same drug dose. It is a phenomenon where the body becomes less responsive to a particular substance or intervention over time, requiring higher doses or stronger interventions to achieve the same effect. It results from adaptive changes in the body's receptors, signaling pathways, or physiological processes that occur in response to prolonged exposure to a stimulus.

Area of Science:

  • Pain Medicine
  • Psychometrics
  • Clinical Diagnostics

Background:

  • Central sensitization is a key mechanism in chronic pain conditions.
  • A validated tool is needed to assess central sensitization in Russian-speaking populations.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop and validate a Russian version of The Central Sensitization Inventory (CSI-R).

Main Methods:

  • Linguistic validation through direct and reverse translation.
  • Assessment of internal consistency, reliability, and sensitivity in a pilot sample (n=50).
  • Psychometric validation in patient groups (fibromyalgia, chronic widespread pain, chronic low back pain) and a healthy control group (n=40 each).

Main Results:

  • The Russian CSI-R demonstrated good internal consistency and reliability.
  • The questionnaire showed sensitivity in distinguishing between patient groups and controls.
  • Effectiveness was proven in assessing disease dynamics and therapy effects during drug treatment.

Conclusions:

  • The Russian CSI-R is a valid and reliable diagnostic tool for central sensitization in clinical practice.
  • It is effective for monitoring disease progression and treatment outcomes.
