Intramural ectopic pregnancy, a rare condition, was successfully treated with uterine wedge resection. The patient later achieved a healthy intrauterine pregnancy, demonstrating successful fertility preservation.

Area of Science:

  • Reproductive Medicine
  • Gynecologic Surgery

Background:

  • Intramural ectopic pregnancy is a rare variant of ectopic pregnancy.
  • It can pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, potentially impacting future fertility.

Observation:

  • A 24-year-old woman presented with an intramural ectopic pregnancy.
  • She had no prior fertility treatments or uterine surgeries, except for a cesarean section.

Findings:

  • Surgical management involved laparotomy with uterine wedge resection to remove the ectopic tissue.
  • Postoperative recovery was uneventful, with a decrease in human chorionic gonadotropin (βHCG) levels.
  • Two months post-surgery, the patient conceived and presented with an intrauterine pregnancy.

Implications:
