High programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression in tongue squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) correlates with advanced stage and poorer disease-free survival. This suggests PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors may offer potential adjuvant therapy for tongue SCCs.
