Nurses' attitude toward alcohol abuse and alcoholism
Journal of National Black Nurses' Association : JNBNA

Abstract:
Nurses have the opportunity to make significant contributions to primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of alcoholism because of their proximity to patients in inpatient, ambulatory and community settings. However, often nurses do not intervene because of attitudinal barriers. This paper addresses the attitudes of nurses toward alcohol abuse and alcoholism and how these attitudes are developed. Strategies for promoting attitude change are discussed.
