Synthesis of new DNA molecules is carried out by the enzyme DNA polymerase, which adds nucleotides on the daughter strand complementary to the template DNA strand. DNA polymerase has a higher affinity to add the correct base and ensures fidelity during DNA replication. Furthermore,  it exhibits proofreading activity during replication, using an exonuclease domain that cuts off incorrect nucleotides from the nascent DNA strand.

Data are individual items of information obtained from a population or sample. Data may be classified as qualitative (categorical), quantitative continuous, or quantitative discrete. Because it is not practical to measure the entire population in a study, researchers use samples to represent the population. A random sample is a representative group from the population chosen by using a method that gives each individual in the population an equal chance of being included in the sample. Random...

In statistics, several tools are used to interpret the data. Measures of central tendency represent the characteristics of the data, such as mean, median, and mode. Additionally, measures of variance like standard deviation and range are used to find the spread of data from the mean. Relative standing measures the distance between data locations. Commonly used measures of relative standings are percentile, z score, and quartiles.
Percentiles are a type of fractile that partition data into...

Guidelines for Writing Outcome

When developing expected outcomes for a patient care plan, the nurse should adhere to the following recommendations:
Patient outcomes reflect the patient's response to the goal rather than what the nurse aims to achieve. Terminology should be observable and measurable to avoid the reader's interpretation. The desired outcome should be realistic and achievable in the designated care timeframe. Expected outcomes should align with adjunctive therapies. The outcome should enhance care...

In most cases, excessive hormone production is prevented by negative feedback—a loop that starts with a stimulus inducing the release of a particular substance, like a hormone, to maintain a certain level before triggering a signal that results in a decrease in further release of the hormone.

Summary

Understand the peer review process for publishing scientific manuscripts. Authors should view reviewer comments as constructive feedback to improve their work for successful publication.

Area of Science:

  • Scientific Publishing
  • Academic Research

Background:

  • Manuscript submission is only the first step in scholarly publishing.
  • Peer review by external experts is crucial for evaluating scientific merit, originality, and quality.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To guide junior and inexperienced authors through the peer review process.
  • To help authors effectively respond to reviewer comments and improve manuscript quality.

Main Methods:

  • The manuscript undergoes peer review by subject matter experts.
  • Authors receive feedback from reviewers to revise their work.

Main Results:

  • Reviewer comments aim to enhance manuscript quality and strengthen scientific arguments.
  • Constructive engagement with feedback is key to successful publication.

Conclusions:

  • Authors should treat reviewers as consultants, not critics.
  • Politely and thoroughly addressing all reviewer comments is essential for manuscript publication.
