Background:
The extent of behavioural treatment recommendations described in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) practice guidelines has not been examined.
Method:
A scoping review identified eight agency-based ADHD practice guidelines. Key components of behavioural treatment recommendations were summarized.
Results:
All guidelines mentioned behavioural treatment as a consideration for managing ADHD, however, the extent to which they were detailed varied. Most guidelines provided lists of behavioural techniques but with minimal specifics regarding treatment delivery.
Conclusions:
There is far less detailing of behavioural approaches compared to pharmacological treatments for ADHD. Greater detailing of evidence-based behavioural approaches may foster improved delivery of high-quality behaviour treatment.
