Summary
Controlled delivery of transforming growth factor-beta 3 (TGF-β₃) and bone morphogenetic protein-4 (BMP-4) with chitosan promoted intervertebral disc regeneration in rabbits. Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2) did not significantly enhance this regenerative effect.
