Late-onset epilepsy (LOE) significantly increases dementia risk. Individuals with LOE were over three times more likely to develop dementia, highlighting a critical need for further research into this association.

Conclusions:
- Late-onset epilepsy is associated with a substantially elevated risk of incident dementia.
- Further research is warranted to elucidate the underlying mechanisms driving this increased dementia risk in individuals with LOE.
