Tissue Renewal without Stem Cells01:23

Tissue Renewal without Stem Cells

2.0K
After cellular or tissue damage, the resident stem cells present in the human body can locally repair and regenerate the damaged tissue or organ. However, even though some tissues do not have stem cells, they can repair and regenerate with the help of pre-existing cells. For example, beta cells of the pancreas and hepatocytes of the liver can divide to renew and regenerate the tissue. Here, both cell division and cell death are well regulated by homeostasis.
However, failure of such a system...

Area of Science:

  • Plastic Surgery
  • Aesthetic Medicine

Background:

  • Silicone implants are common for breast augmentation.
  • There is a growing demand for non-silicone alternatives.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To explore cosmetic breast augmentation methods without silicone implants.
  • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of lipofilling and mastopexy for breast augmentation.

Main Methods:

  • Review of surgical techniques including mastopexy and lipofilling.
  • Analysis of lipofilling for volume restoration and asymmetry correction.
  • Consideration of tissue expansion in conjunction with lipofilling for enhanced outcomes.

Main Results:

  • Mastopexy can provide optical breast augmentation.
  • Lipofilling is a safe and effective method for natural-looking breast augmentation, volume compensation, and asymmetry correction.
  • Combining lipofilling with tissue expansion improves fat graft survival for larger volume augmentation.

Conclusions:

  • Non-silicone breast augmentation is increasingly popular.
  • Lipofilling is a versatile and safe technique for various breast augmentation goals.
  • Hyaluronic acid injections are not recommended for cosmetic breast augmentation.
