This study presents an interdisciplinary approach to correct black triangles and improve soft-tissue aesthetics in high-demand esthetic zones. The technique successfully restored pink and white aesthetics for a patient with an improper prosthesis.
Area of Science:
- Dentistry
- Prosthodontics
- Periodontology
Background:
- Achieving predictable esthetic results in high-demand areas requires an interdisciplinary approach.
- Black triangles and improper prostheses present challenges for soft-tissue esthetic rehabilitation.
- Conventional fixed prostheses can create imbalances in pink and white aesthetics.
Observation:
- A case report detailing the management of a patient with an improper prosthesis and a resultant black triangle.
- The patient required correction of the interproximal black triangle between the abutment and pontic.
- Maintaining the existing midline diastema was a key esthetic consideration.
Findings:
- A minimally invasive vestibular incision subperiosteal tunneling access technique was employed.
- Connective tissue grafting was utilized for interdental papilla reconstruction.
- Prosthetic rehabilitation involved a fixed partial denture with a loop connector design.
Implications:
- This interdisciplinary approach successfully addressed both soft-tissue (pink) and tooth (white) esthetics.
- The technique provided a comprehensive esthetic rehabilitation, meeting patient demands.
- Minimally invasive techniques combined with prosthodontics offer predictable outcomes for complex esthetic cases.
