Summary

Fetuin-A, a protein linked to insulin resistance, is elevated in both small-for-gestational-age (SGA) and large-for-gestational-age (LGA) newborns. Higher fetuin-A levels are associated with increased risks of SGA and LGA, particularly excessive fetal growth.
