Summary

KID syndrome, a rare genetic disorder, presents with congenital ichthyosis, vascular keratitis, and deafness. This report details the first Spanish case of KID syndrome in a 17-year-old female patient.

Background:

KID syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant disorder.
It is characterized by congenital ichthyosis, vascular keratitis, and neurosensorial deafness.

Observation:

A 17-year-old female presented with congenital ichthyosis, sparse hair, malar erythema, perioral ragades, progressive neurosensory deafness, and vascularizing keratitis.
This represents the first reported case of KID syndrome in Spanish literature.

Findings:

The patient's ichthyosis was unresponsive to etretinate treatment.
Clinical, pathological, and analytical features of KID syndrome were reviewed.

Implications:

This case highlights the importance of early diagnosis and management of KID syndrome.
