  • A 5-year-old boy presented with long-term, severe photophobia.
  • The child experienced social isolation and missed school due to his symptoms.

Findings:

  • The patient was diagnosed with interstitial keratitis.
  • Interstitial keratitis was identified as a manifestation of Lyme disease.

Implications:

  • Lyme disease should be considered in the differential diagnosis of pediatric chronic photophobia.
  • Early diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease can prevent long-term visual complications and improve quality of life.
