Abstract:
This paper describes a microcomputer system for the on-line display of physiological variables such as: lung ventilation, tidal volume, respiratory frequency, oxygen consumption, heart rate, oxygen pulse, respiratory exchange ratio, grams of fat and carbohydrate metabolised, mean skin temperature, rectal temperature and mean body temperature. The program has been written in Pascal. The modular nature of this language facilitates modification of the program to make it compatible with a variety of hardware and peripherals.
