    • Orthopedic Surgery
    • Biomedical Engineering

    Background:

    • Revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA) rates are rising globally.
    • Understanding the causes of TKA failure is crucial for effective treatment.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To provide a comprehensive overview of revision TKA.
    • To guide clinicians in managing painful and malfunctioning TKAs.
    • To familiarize readers with surgical planning and execution for revision TKA.

    Main Methods:

    • Literature review on TKA revision strategies.
    • Clinical case analysis of revision TKA indications.
    • Surgical technique descriptions for revision TKA.

    Main Results:

    • Identified common etiologies for TKA failure.
    • Outlined diagnostic approaches for painful TKAs.
    • Detailed basic and advanced revision TKA procedures.

    Conclusions:

    • Effective management of revision TKA requires understanding etiology and surgical planning.
    • This chapter equips readers with knowledge for the full spectrum of revision TKA care.
