Summary
Clostridium septicum gas gangrene disproportionately affects patients with malignant disease or immune suppression. This infection has a high mortality rate, even with prompt treatment.

- Early recognition and aggressive treatment, including antibiotics and hyperbaric oxygen, are vital but mortality remains high.
