Summary

Discontinuing MiSight contact lens wear for myopia control did not cause a rebound effect in children. Eye growth and myopia progression remained similar whether lenses were continued or stopped, showing no adverse effects after two years.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine if discontinuing MiSight CL wear after two years of myopia control treatment leads to a rebound effect.
  • To assess axial length and myopia progression in children who stopped wearing MiSight CLs compared to those who continued.

Main Methods:

  • A one-year follow-up study of children who completed the two-year MASS Study (MiSight CLs vs. single vision spectacles).
  • Participants were divided into three groups: continued MiSight wear (MiSight-C), discontinued MiSight wear (MiSight-D), and continued single vision spectacles (SV-C).
  • Axial length and refractive error changes were measured to evaluate myopia progression and eye growth.

Conclusions:

  • Discontinuation of MiSight CL wear after two years does not result in a myopia rebound effect.
  • Children's eye growth and myopia progression remained stable after stopping MiSight lens wear.
  • These findings suggest that stopping MiSight contact lenses does not accelerate myopia progression.
