Background:

Increasing workplace stress necessitates strategies to enhance employee well-being.
Dogs are known to positively influence human well-being, but their impact in office settings is under-researched.
Pet-friendly policies are emerging as a workplace incentive.

Purpose of the Study:

To empirically investigate the presence of dogs in organizations.
To analyze the impact of pet-friendly organizational policies on employees and companies.
To understand the conditions under which dogs in offices contribute to well-being.

Main Methods:

Multiple case studies were conducted.
Semi-structured interviews formed the basis of data collection.
An inductive approach was used for data analysis.

Main Results:

Organizational members perceive dogs as stress reducers.
Dogs can improve communication and foster social cohesion in the workplace.
A flexible organizational culture (open problem-solving, job autonomy, flexible breaks, tolerance for errors) is crucial for positive outcomes.

Conclusions:

Pet-friendly policies are effective for employee well-being only within a supportive and flexible organizational culture.
Inflexible pet policies can inadvertently increase employee pressure and stress.
The success of dogs in the workplace depends on the right cultural framework, not solely as a well-being instrument.
