Summary

Chaperonin containing TCP1 complex 6A (CCT6A) is a potential prognostic biomarker for Ewing sarcoma (ES). High CCT6A expression correlates with poor overall survival and serves as an independent predictor of ES prognosis.

Background:

  • Ewing sarcoma (ES) lacks established prognostic biomarkers.
  • Chaperonin containing TCP1 complex 6A (CCT6A) is implicated in various cancers but its role in ES is unclear.

Purpose of the Study:

  • Investigate the prognostic role of CCT6A in Ewing sarcoma.
  • Identify potential biomarkers for ES patient outcomes.

Main Methods:

  • Bioinformatic analysis of 32 ES specimens (GSE17618 dataset) focusing on gene expression, overall survival (OS), and event-free survival (EFS).
  • Immunohistochemical analysis to compare CCT6A expression in ES and adjacent tissues.

Main Results:

  • CCT6A expression was significantly higher in ES tissues than paracancerous tissues.
  • High CCT6A expression was associated with poor OS (P=.024).
  • CCT6A, age, and EFS were identified as independent poor prognostic biomarkers in multivariate analysis.

Conclusions:

  • CCT6A expression levels are strongly associated with Ewing sarcoma prognosis.
  • CCT6A shows potential as a predictive biomarker for ES outcomes.
