Migraine pain lateralization may be influenced by manual dominance. Left-handed individuals experiencing migraine attacks show a tendency for pain on their dominant side, unlike right-handers.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the relationship between manual dominance and pain localization in migraine patients.
  • To determine if handedness affects the side of unilateral pain experienced during migraine attacks.

Main Methods:

  • A retrospective study involving 546 migraine patients (aged 16-65).
  • Manual dominance assessed using the Edinburgh test.
  • Analysis of 4215 unilateral painful migraine attacks based on self-reported laterality.

  • Right-handed subjects (n=466) reported 62.8% of attacks on the right and 37.2% on the left.

Conclusions:
