Operating microscope-induced retinal phototoxicity during pars plana vitrectomy.

Summary

Retinal phototoxic damage can occur during vitrectomy surgery due to microscope illumination. Shielding the cornea with liquid media and the lens during sclerotomy closure can prevent this damage.
