Abstract:
The vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) represents a neuronal peptide of wide-spread occurrence. By electron microscopic immunocytochemistry VIP has been localized to the granules of the terminals of p-type neurons. This localizations lends support to the postulate that VIP may be a neurotransmitter.
