Summary

Higher body mass index (BMI) in children is linked to worse exercise performance and increased respiratory symptoms like cough and shortness of breath. However, BMI did not appear to affect exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB).

  • Elevated ISO-BMI in children may contribute to reduced exercise capacity and the onset of respiratory symptoms like cough and dyspnea during physical activity.
  • BMI does not appear to be a significant factor in the development of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) in this pediatric cohort.
