Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To examine neuroendocrine changes in men with secondary premature ejaculation (PE).
  • To investigate correlations between PE, traumatic stress indicators, and cortisol levels.

Main Methods:

  • Study included 60 male outpatients with secondary PE and 60 healthy controls.
  • Biochemical analysis of cortisol and psychometric scoring using validated diagnostic tools were performed.
  • Tools included the Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool (PEDT), Trauma Symptom Checklist (TSC), and Somatoform Dissociation Questionnaire (SDQ).

Main Results:

  • Significant correlations were found in the PE group: PEDT score with TSC (R=.86), cortisol (R=.47), and SDQ (R=.61).
  • In the control group, correlations were not statistically significant: PEDT with TSC (R=.21), cortisol (R=.27), and SDQ (R=.25).
