IR Spectrometers01:25

IR Spectrometers

1.7K
There are two main infrared (IR) spectrophotometers: dispersive IR spectrometers and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometers. In a dispersive IR spectrometer, a beam of infrared radiation produced by a hot wire is divided into two parallel equal-intensity beams using mirrors. One beam passes through the sample, while another is a reference beam. The beams then move through the monochromator, which separates the radiations into a continuous spectrum of different frequencies. The...

Electronic Distance Measuring Instruments01:30

Electronic Distance Measuring Instruments

203
Electronic Distance Measuring Instruments (EDMs) are essential tools in modern surveying, offering precise distance measurements by emitting electromagnetic signals and calculating the time required for these signals to travel to a target and return. Two primary types of signals are used in EDMs — light waves and microwaves — each suited to specific environmental and distance requirements. Light-wave-based EDMs utilize either infrared or laser light, providing high accuracy over...

    Summary

We developed Doppler optical frequency domain reflectometry to simultaneously measure the position and speed of moving objects. This technique tracks levitated particles and enables distributed temperature sensing with high spatial resolution.

    • To demonstrate applications in particle tracking and distributed sensing.

    Main Methods:

    • Implementation of a new DOFDR system capable of dynamic measurements.
    • Utilizing the system to track optically levitated particles within a hollow-core photonic crystal fiber.
    • Applying DOFDR for distributed temperature sensing.

    Main Results:

    • Simultaneous measurement of position and speed for moving objects achieved.
    • Successful tracking of levitated particles demonstrated.
    • Distributed temperature sensing realized with sub-millimeter spatial resolution and a standard deviation of approximately 10°C up to 200°C.

    Conclusions:

    • The developed DOFDR system offers a versatile platform for dynamic measurements.
    • This technology advances particle tracking and distributed sensing capabilities.
    • High-resolution temperature sensing of moving or levitated objects is now feasible.
