Revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA) for malalignment significantly improves function for 5 years. Greater coronal deviation, younger age, and lower preoperative scores predict better outcomes in revision TKA surgery.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the functional outcome of revision TKA for malalignment at 5 years.
  • To identify factors influencing functional outcome in these patients.

Main Methods:

  • Prospective cohort study of 105 patients undergoing revision TKA for malalignment.
  • Functional outcome assessed using the Knee Society Clinical Rating System (fKSS) at multiple time points.
  • Multivariable analysis used to identify influencing factors.

Main Results:

  • Functional outcome significantly improved from preoperative to 5-year follow-up (p < 0.001).
  • Higher coronal deviation, younger age, and lower preoperative fKSS were associated with greater functional improvement.

Conclusions:

  • Revision TKA for malalignment is effective in improving functional outcomes up to 5 years.
  • Predictors of improved function include greater coronal deviation, younger age, and lower preoperative scores.
