Abstract:
Retraction: "MicroRNA-29a inhibits proliferation and motility of schwannoma cells by targeting CDK6," by Ji Ma, Tengfei Li, Huifeng Yuan, Xinwei Han, Shaofeng Shui, Dong Guo, Lei Yan, J Cell Biochem. 2018; 2617-2626: The above article, published online on 11 October 2017 in Wiley Online Library (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jcb.26426), has been retracted by agreement between the journal's Editor in Chief, Prof. Dr. Christian Behl, and Wiley Periodicals LLC. The retraction has been agreed following an investigation based on allegations raised by a third party. Several flaws and inconsistencies between results presented and experimental methods described were found, the editors consider the conclusions of this article to be invalid. The authors collaborated in the investigation initially, but were not available for a final confirmation of the retraction.
Insights

Area of Science:
- Molecular Biology
- Oncology
- Biochemistry
Context:
- Schwannoma cell behavior is crucial in neuro-oncology.
- MicroRNAs are key regulators of gene expression.
- CDK6 is implicated in cell cycle progression.
Purpose:
- To investigate the role of microRNA-29a in regulating schwannoma cell proliferation and motility.
- To identify CDK6 as a potential target of microRNA-29a in these cells.
Summary:
- The article investigated microRNA-29a's inhibitory effects on schwannoma cell proliferation and motility.
- It proposed targeting Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 6 (CDK6) as the mechanism.
- The study has been retracted due to identified flaws and inconsistencies.
Impact:
- The retraction invalidates previous conclusions regarding microRNA-29a and CDK6 in schwannoma.
- This impacts the reliability of research in neuro-oncology and microRNA therapeutics.
- Further research is needed to clarify the role of these molecules in schwannoma.

Somatic Spinal Reflexes
One of the most well-known somatic spinal reflexes is the stretch reflex, which is activated by the sudden stretching of a muscle. This reflex involves the activation of specialized sensory receptors called muscle spindles, which are located in the muscle tissue and detect changes in the length and speed of muscle contractions. When a muscle is suddenly...

Relaxation of Skeletal Muscles
When an action potential reaches the axon terminal, it depolarizes the membrane and opens voltage-gated sodium channels. Sodium ions enter the cell, further depolarizing the presynaptic membrane. This depolarization causes voltage-gated calcium channels to open....
