Abstract:
Retraction: "MicroRNA-132 attenuates LPS-induced inflammatory injury by targeting TRAF6 in neuronal cell line HT-22," by Yang-Fei Ji, Dan Wang, Yan-Ru Liu, Xing-Rong Ma, Hong Lu, Bo-Ai Zhang, J Cell Biochem. 2018; 5528-5537: The above article, published online on 29 January 2018 in Wiley Online Library (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/jcb.26720), has been retracted by agreement between the the journal's Editor in Chief, Prof. Dr. Christian Behl, and Wiley Periodicals LLC. The retraction has been agreed following an investigation based on allegations raised by a third party. Several flaws and inconsistencies between results presented and experimental methods described were found, the editors consider the conclusions of this article to be invalid. The authors collaborated in the investigation initially, but were not available for a final confirmation of the retraction.
Insights
This study on microRNA-132 and inflammatory injury in neuronal cells has been retracted due to significant flaws. The findings are considered invalid following an investigation into experimental inconsistencies.
Area of Science:
- Neuroscience
- Molecular Biology
- Immunology
Context:
- The original study investigated the role of microRNA-132 in mitigating lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammatory injury in the HT-22 neuronal cell line.
- It proposed that microRNA-132 targets TNF receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6) to exert its protective effects.
Purpose:
- To provide an enhanced abstract for a retracted scientific article, focusing on SEO optimization and clarity.
- To summarize the original study's purported findings and the reasons for its retraction.
Summary:
- The article "MicroRNA-132 attenuates LPS-induced inflammatory injury by targeting TRAF6 in neuronal cell line HT-22" has been retracted.
- The retraction was based on allegations of flaws and inconsistencies between presented results and experimental methods, rendering the conclusions invalid.
Impact:
- This retraction highlights the importance of rigorous scientific validation and peer review processes.
- It serves as a cautionary example regarding the potential for invalid conclusions in published research.

Somatic Spinal Reflexes
One of the most well-known somatic spinal reflexes is the stretch reflex, which is activated by the sudden stretching of a muscle. This reflex involves the activation of specialized sensory receptors called muscle spindles, which are located in the muscle tissue and detect changes in the length and speed of muscle contractions. When a muscle is suddenly...
