Summary

Cotton bud use for ear cleaning does not increase the risk of earwax blockage in children or adults. This study examined 310 patients, finding no significant difference in earwax impaction between cotton bud users and non-users.

  • To investigate the association between cotton bud use and visually occlusive wax plugs in the external auditory canal.
  • To determine if this association differs between children and adults.
