Adjunctive doxycycline therapy in tuberculosis patients rapidly normalized gene expression and suppressed destructive matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). This host-directed therapy reduced lung tissue damage and was safe, warranting further investigation for tuberculosis immunopathology.
