Background:

Limited research exists on teaching stimulus preference assessments using behavioral skills training (BST) in university settings.
Preservice school psychologists require training in conducting preference assessments for effective clinical practice.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the effectiveness of BST in teaching the multiple-stimulus without-replacement preference assessment to preservice school psychologists.
To assess the maintenance of skills after a single BST session.

Main Methods:

Three preservice school psychologists participated in the study.
Behavioral skills training (BST) was implemented in a university classroom setting.
Performance on the multiple-stimulus without-replacement preference assessment was measured before and after BST.

Main Results:

A single session of BST significantly improved participants' performance on the preference assessment.
The observed improvements in performance were maintained one week after the BST session.

Conclusions:

BST is an effective method for teaching stimulus preference assessments to preservice school psychologists in a university classroom.
BST offers a viable and efficient approach to skill acquisition and maintenance in this context.
