Summary

Permanent post-traumatic patellar dislocation is rare and distinct from congenital dislocation. Surgical correction can effectively restore patellar alignment in affected patients.

Background:

Permanent post-traumatic patellar dislocation is a rare orthopedic condition.
It is often misdiagnosed as congenital patellar dislocation due to overlapping symptoms.
Anatomical differences exist between post-traumatic and congenital patellar dislocations, impacting treatment strategies.
