Abstract:
Retraction: "The anti-inflammatory effect of microRNA-383-3p interacting with IL1R2 against homocysteine-induced endothelial injury in rat coronary arteries," by Zheng Lian, Feng-Feng Lv, Jing Yu, Jia-Wang Wang, J Cell Biochem. 2018; 6684-6694: The above article, published online on 25 April 2018 in Wiley Online Library (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jcb.26854) has been retracted by agreement between the journal's Editor in Chief, Prof. Dr. Christian Behl, and Wiley Periodicals LLC. The retraction has been agreed following an investigation based on allegations raised by a third party. A detailed investigation revealed that several image elements of the experimental data were published elsewhere in a different scientific context. Thus, the editors consider the conclusions of this article to be invalid.
Insights
This study on microRNA-383-3p and IL1R2 has been retracted due to duplicated image elements in experimental data, invalidating its conclusions on endothelial injury.
Area of Science:
- Molecular Biology
- Cardiovascular Research
- Biochemistry
Context:
- Endothelial injury is a critical factor in cardiovascular diseases.
- Homocysteine is implicated in endothelial dysfunction.
- MicroRNAs play regulatory roles in cellular processes.
Purpose:
- To investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of microRNA-383-3p interacting with IL1R2.
- To explore the mechanism against homocysteine-induced endothelial injury in rat coronary arteries.
Summary:
- The article investigated the interaction between microRNA-383-3p and IL1R2 in the context of homocysteine-induced endothelial injury.
- Experimental data included image elements that were found to be duplicated in other scientific contexts.
- The journal editors retracted the article due to concerns about the validity of the experimental data and conclusions.
Impact:
- The retraction highlights the importance of rigorous data verification in scientific publishing.
- Invalidates previous findings on the role of microRNA-383-3p and IL1R2 in endothelial protection.
- Underscores the need for careful review of image integrity in research articles.

Somatic Spinal Reflexes
One of the most well-known somatic spinal reflexes is the stretch reflex, which is activated by the sudden stretching of a muscle. This reflex involves the activation of specialized sensory receptors called muscle spindles, which are located in the muscle tissue and detect changes in the length and speed of muscle contractions. When a muscle is suddenly...

Relaxation of Skeletal Muscles
When an action potential reaches the axon terminal, it depolarizes the membrane and opens voltage-gated sodium channels. Sodium ions enter the cell, further depolarizing the presynaptic membrane. This depolarization causes voltage-gated calcium channels to open....
