Background:

  • Rhinoplasty is a highly prevalent aesthetic surgical procedure, with global incidence reaching approximately 1 million cases in 2016.
  • The study addresses the increasing demand for rhinoplasty, particularly for nasal tip refinement in long noses.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To define the importance of sequential procedures in rhinoplasty.
  • To determine the optimal extent of each surgical step and identify potentially omittable techniques.
  • To enhance nasal tip aesthetics through rotation in patients with long noses.

Main Methods:

  • A descriptive study included 27 primary rhinoplasty candidates (18 women, 9 men) aged 20-48.
  • Participants had long noses and sought reduction in nasal tip projection and cranial tip rotation.
  • Exclusion criteria included revision rhinoplasty, congenital deformities, and age extremes (under 18 or over 60).

Main Results:

  • Significant improvement in nasolabial angle observed post-surgery in both women (88.2° to 102.8°) and men (79.6° to 92.3°), with P < 0.001.
  • Nasal tip rotation was successfully achieved in all patients.
  • Ideal tip rotation was attained in 81% of cases, while 19% exceeded the ideal range.

Conclusions:

  • Nasal tip rotation in long noses is a complex procedure with multiple available techniques.
  • Not all described techniques are necessary for successful tip rotation.
  • A general surgical strategy, adaptable with variable techniques, is recommended for optimal outcomes.
