A Combined Surgical Approach for Extensor Hallucis Longus Reconstruction: Two Case Reports
1Department of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Central Lisbon Hospital Centre, Lisbon, Portugal.
Summary
This study presents a new surgical technique for reconstructing the extensor hallucis longus (EHL) tendon. The combined elongation and tendon transfer method successfully restored hallux extension in patients with EHL tendon injuries.
Area of Science:
- Orthopedic Surgery
- Foot and Ankle Surgery
- Reconstructive Surgery
Background:
- Surgical management for foot tendon injuries, particularly the extensor hallucis longus (EHL) tendon, is not extensively documented.
- Restoring full function after EHL tendon injury requires effective reconstructive techniques.
