The Let's Get Organized (LGO-S) intervention improved time management skills and daily life organization for individuals with neurodevelopmental or mental disorders, with benefits sustained one year later.
Area of Science:
- Occupational therapy
- Mental health interventions
- Neurodevelopmental disorders
Background:
- Time management is crucial for daily functioning.
- Individuals with neurodevelopmental or mental disorders often struggle with time management and organization.
- There is a need for interventions with lasting effects.
Purpose of the Study:
- To evaluate the one-year post-intervention effects of the Let's Get Organized (LGO-S) intervention.
- To assess the long-term impact of LGO-S on individuals with neurodevelopmental or mental disorders.
Main Methods:
- A one-year follow-up of a single-group pre-test-post-test study.
- Thirty-eight participants with time management difficulties due to neurodevelopmental or mental disorders.
- Data collected using the Assessment of Time Management Skills, Weekly Calendar Planning Activity, and Satisfaction with Daily Occupations instruments.
- Wilcoxon's signed-rank test used for data comparison.
Main Results:
- No significant differences were observed between post-intervention and one-year follow-up for time management skills, emotion regulation, and daily occupation satisfaction.
- A significant improvement in the organization and planning subscale was noted at the one-year follow-up compared to immediately post-intervention.
Conclusions:
- The Let's Get Organized (LGO-S) intervention demonstrates sustained long-term benefits.
- Improvements in time management, organization, planning, emotion regulation, and daily occupation satisfaction are maintained.
- The LGO-S intervention is effective for enhancing long-term occupational functioning in target populations.
