The loss of teeth can result in moderate alveolar ridge shrinkage. This bone loss is exacerbated if there are pre-existing endodontic pathologies and/or periodontal disease. Achieving an ideal esthetic outcome is challenging when moderate bone and soft-tissue defects exist. Bone augmentation is often required to create ideal gingival contours and esthetics.
